RALEIGH — The North Carolina Medical Society conducted a survey on the costs and burden to clinicians of Prior Authorization. The results show costs to small, medium, and large practices and break down the costs by region. It further breaks down the amount of time required by staff to manage Prior Authorization and how most clinicians believe they could take on more patients if the burden of Prior Auth was reduced.
NCMS CEO Chip Baggett says, “Just imagine the impact on healthcare in North Carolina if our existing clinicians were each able to add 40 new patients a week. It could open up a new era in accessibility for many of the state’s underserved areas.”
